Project Abstract

The project aims to develop financially independent knowledge centre that can act like a vehicle to support the translational research in nano-biotechnology. The Centre¿s focus will be on Developing Critical Processes, Structure & Network, Evaluation & Review mechanisms that enable Transformational Research in Nano Biotechnology by networking domain experts, directing the focus on problems and challenges of relevance and marketable propositions. ? The approach that the centre will adopt for the research programme is focused on making use of complementary skills based in different locations. This will enhance the breadth of knowledge across institutions with differing background and will enhance networking and mentoring opportunities. ? This centre can become a one stop solution for industries interested in investing advanced technologies that have business and technical feasibility along with experts, mentors and required infrastructure. ? This centre can provide inputs to the policy makers for drafting any policies related to nano-biotechnology. ? This centre can nurture and ideate technologies that have achieved lab/pilot scale success and would develop funding mechanisms thus are very relevant for technology innovators.

Objectives of the Study

1. Improve and launch DBT’s pre-developed online knowledge centre portal
2. Develop and implement ideation component of the portal
3. Develop methodologies to connect researchers and stakeholders to promote nanotechnology led innovations

Proposed outcomes of the study

1. A unique and single online platform will emerge that will contain a comprehensive list of country’s nanobiotechnology research projects, facilities, infrastructure, publications, patents, technology transferred and other related information
2. Bring forward cutting edge research in the area of nanobiotechnology through ideation process
3. Minimize research failure, effort, time, expenditure, and redundancy of works through prescreening of ideas by domain experts
4. Establish connect between researchers and stakeholders
5. Increase visibility and marketability of the developed technologies
6. Creation of an effective and quick knowledge, infrastructure, facility and information sharing
7. Facilitate PAN India nano-biotechnology group collaboration
